Speaker: Rev. Ken Jones

There’s Something IN There

Rev. Jones will offer the first sermon in a series on the six sources of Unitarian Universalism.  This one covers “Direct experience of that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to the forces that create and uphold life.”

The Learning Community

The fourth value identified in our visioning process last year is “learning.”  This morning Rev. Jones will explore what learning means in a religious community. https://www.uucyakima.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Learning-Community.pdf

Giving Life the Shape of Justice

Borrowing a line from one of our most beloved hymns, Rev. Jones will explore the third value identified in our visioning process: Justice.  What is justice?  What does it ask of us?  One year after our last national election, how has it changed?  Or not?

Masquerade!

Many masks are made this time of year to hide behind.  But some masks reveal things about us, too.  Bring the family to this all-ages celebration of Halloween.

Rod’s House

This morning we’ll be joined by Joshua Jackson, Executive Director of Rod’s House, a local drop-in and service center for homeless youth.  Rod’s House is a frequent “Share the Plate” partner.

The Roots of Violence, the Seeds of Peace

In light of the recent tragic shooting in Las Vegas, Rev. Jones will be offering a sermon on “The Roots of Violence, the Seeds of Peace” this Sunday. Special musical guest Alistair Leon Kok on Violin.

Covenant and Community

Join Rev. Jones as he calls us to re-boot our covenant for a new church year, and explores the first of four areas of vital interest identified in last year’s visioning process: the value of community.
